2023 Summer Reading Program for All Ages, June 1 - August 1, 2023

The weather forecast is sunny with a chance of books! Join this year's Summer Reading Program and track your books and activities between Thurs., June 1 and Tues., August 1 to win prizes and earn chances to enter grand prize drawings.

Forgot your login information?

Username: Try the account holder’s first name and last name with no capitals or spaces. For instance, “janedoe.”

Password: Try “beanstack” or “password.”

Programs and Events

Programs and events for all ages are planned for this summer, including an all-ages pet show, a music and food truck event, a visit from the Akron Zoo, and more. Stop by the library to pick up a program guide, or click the button below to view and register for summer events on the library's online calendar.


Children from Birth - Age 11

What to do

  • Log activities (reading is an activity too).
  • Earn a virtual badge, a grand prize entry, and a coupon or small prize for every 5 activities completed.
  • Keep logging your activities until August 1 for more grand prize entries (you can enter for grand prizes up to 10 times).

Teens Ages 12 - 17

What to do

  • Log books you've read or listened to and activities you've completed.
  • Write reviews of the books you read for extra chances to win.
  • Every book, every review, and every 5 activities logged earns a virtual badge and a virtual ticket to enter the grand prize drawings. Grand prizes include a $75 Target gift card, a pair of passes to Sky Zone, passes to MovieScoop Kent Plaza Cinemas, or a gift basket full of fun stuff for readers including dinner for two at Texas Roadhouse.
  • Every five badges earns a small prize, such as a restaurant coupon, a people-shaped stress reliever puzzle, a candy bar, or a free book.
  • Earn at least 10 badges to win a collectible "Sunny with a Chance of Books" enamel pin (while supplies last).
  • Keep logging until August 1 for more grand prize entries (you can enter for grand prizes up to 40 times).

Adults Ages 18 and Over

Log your books and activities to earn virtual badges, small prizes, and grand prize entries. Note to parents: Even if you're reading with your child, you'll need to create your own Beanstack account to be eligible to win prizes.

What to do

  • Earn badges by logging your books, completing activities, and writing reviews. (No starred reviews, please. Tell us what you thought.)
  • Each badge earns you a virtual ticket to enter into a grand prize drawing. Grand prizes this year include a $75 Target gift card, a Hydro Flask cooler, a companion membership to the Akron Zoo, and certificates for local businesses.
  • Every five badges earned gives you the opportunity to pick a small prize, such as a coupon, LED bracelet, or candy bar.
  • Earn at least 10 badges to win a collectible "Sunny with a Chance of Books" enamel pin while supplies last.
  • Keep logging until August 1 to earn more grand prize entries.
