Wednesday Movie Club - ON THE WATERFRONT In-Person
This film is being presented as part of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's Wednesday Movie Club, a weekly showcase of movies that matter for people who love movies. Attendees will be invited to discuss the film immediately following the screening. Registration is not required.
This week's Wednesday Movie Club happens to fall on what would have been Marlon Brando's 100th Birthday. To celeberate we'll be watching the performance that many say made him the "greatest actor of all time." Winner of eight Academy Awards -- including "Best Picture," "Best Actor," "Best Supporting Actress," and "Best Director" -- ON THE WATERFRONT tells the story of an ex-prize fighter turned New Jersey longshoreman who reluctantly stands up to his corrupt union. Brando's performance introduced the world to "method acting" and inspired other legendary performers like Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins and Jack Nicholson.
