Wednesday Movie Club: NOSFERATU In-Person
This film is being presented as part of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's Wednesday Movie Club, a weekly showcase of movies that matter for people who love movies. Attendees will be invited to discuss the film immediately following the screening. Registration is not required.
Is NOSFERATU a silent, black-and-white, German expressionist vampire film? Yes, it is. But it is also one of the most influential and haunting horror masterpieces ever made. As film critic Roger Ebert once wrote, "Here is the story of Dracula before it was buried alive in clichés, jokes, TV skits, cartoons, and more than 30 other films." Is it scary? Not exactly. But Max Schreck's immortal performance as Count Orlock, the first vampire to stalk the silver screen, will give you chills. We can't think of a better way to celebrate Halloween.
