Wednesday Movie Club: THE TRUMAN SHOW

Wednesday Movie Club: THE TRUMAN SHOW In-Person

This film is being presented as part of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's Wednesday Movie Club, a weekly showcase of movies that matter for people who love movies.  Each week's screening begins with a brief presentation on the film's significance and various elements viewers might want to pay attention to. Then, immediately following the screening, attendees will be invited to discuss. Participation in discussions is voluntary. Registration is not required.

THE TRUMAN SHOW was a big hit with audiences and critics when it premiered in 1998. Twenty-six years later, it's more poignant than ever. The psychological comedy-drama stars Jim Carey as Truman Banks, the unwitting star of a reality TV show chronicling his every move. Adopted by the network and raised in the zoolike environment of a TV soundstage, Truman gradually discovers he's a prisoner in an immense city-size soundstage overseen by an Executive Producer (Ed Harris) who's manipulating every aspect of his life. THE TRUMAN SHOW is a must-see for anyone who hasn't seen it, and a timely rewatch for anyone who has.
