Wednesday Movie Club: THELMA AND LOUISE In-Person
This film is being presented as part of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's Wednesday Movie Club, a weekly showcase of movies that matter for people who love movies. Attendees will be invited to discuss the film immediately following the screening. Registration is not required.
In 1991 THELMA AND LOUISE redefined the way Hollywood portrays women. The iconic film about two friends -- portrayed by Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis -- proved that a film with strong female leads with "firepower, desire and complex inner lives" can be both entertaining and a smashing commercial success. The film won the Academy Award for "Best Original Screenplay" and earned "Best Actress" nominations for both Sarandon and Davis, which remains the last time two lead actors received nominations for the same film. And if that's not enough to convince you to join us, THELMA AND LOUISE also introduced the world to a then-unknown Brad Pitt.
