Wednesday Movie Club: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid In-Person

This film is being presented as part of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's Wednesday Movie Club, a weekly showcase of movies that matter for people who love movies.  Attendees will be invited to discuss the film immediately following the screening. Registration is not required.

This week, we continue our exploration of on-screen chemistry with one of the great joys of American cinema, BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID.  Paul Newman and Robert Redford deliver career-defining performances as two outlaws whose days of easy robberies are coming to an end, sending them on the run across the American West and, eventually, all the way to Bolivia.  Directed by George Roy Hill from William Goldman’s Oscar-winning screenplay, the film blends breezy banter, romantic tension, and breathtaking landscapes into a story that’s as funny as it is poignant.  But what truly makes this buddy western sing is the irresistible chemistry between Newman and Redford — wry, warm, quick on the draw, and impossible to fake — one of the most beloved screen partnerships ever captured on film.
