Wednesday Movie Club: Eternity

Wednesday Movie Club: Eternity In-Person

Film has a unique ability to bring memory to life, shaping time, perspective and emotion in ways that mirror how we actually remember. It can move backward and forward, linger on moments or reveal how memory itself is influenced by who’s telling the story. This July, we’ll explore films that examine how the past is shaped, remembered and sometimes rewritten, from personal stories to larger questions about history.  What happens when memory shifts, fades or is shaped by forces beyond our control?

Week two takes us somewhere a little more unexpected.  Eternity is an A-24, sci-fi romantic comedy with a deceptively simple question at its core: what if you had to choose who to spend your afterlife with?  Elizabeth Olsen stars as Joan, who, after her death, is given one week to decide between her devoted husband, played by Miles Teller, and her long-lost first love, played by Callum Turner. Set in a 1960s-inspired afterlife where souls appear in their happiest, younger forms, the film blends romance, humor, and a touch of the surreal. It’s a thoughtful, charming look at love, memory, and the stories we tell ourselves about the lives we’ve lived.

***This film is being presented as part of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's Wednesday Movie Club, a weekly showcase of movies that matter for people who love movies.  Attendees will be invited to discuss the film immediately following the screening. Registration is not required.
