Film has a unique ability to bring memory to life, shaping time, perspective and emotion in ways that mirror how we actually remember. It can move backward and forward, linger on moments or reveal how memory itself is influenced by who’s telling the story. This July, we’ll explore films that examine how the past is shaped, remembered and sometimes rewritten, from personal stories to larger questions about history.  What happens when memory shifts, fades or is shaped by forces beyond our control?

This week, we close our series with The Life of Chuck, a film that takes a more intimate and unexpected approach to memory. Based on the novella by Stephen King, this genre-bending story unfolds in reverse, gradually revealing the life of an ordinary man in ways that are surprising, moving, and deeply human. Anchored by a standout performance from Tom Hiddleston, the film shifts between tones and perspectives, ultimately building toward something both reflective and quietly profound. It’s a reminder that memory isn’t just about what we’ve lost or forgotten, but about the moments that define us...and how a life can take on extraordinary meaning when we take the time to look back.
