The difference between a great premise and a great story often comes down to two things: intention and obstacle. What does a character want, and what's standing in their way? The answers create conflict, and conflict is what keeps us invested. This month, we'll watch four films that demonstrate just how powerful that simple storytelling formula can be.

Written, directed by, and starring Lake Bell, In a World... is a witty and thoroughly charming comedy set in the little-known world of movie trailer voice artists.  When an aspiring voice actor gets a chance to compete for a coveted job long dominated by men, she finds herself facing professional rivals, industry expectations, and the complicated influence of her famous father.

Funny, warm, and surprisingly perceptive, the film is about finding the confidence to pursue what you want, even when the odds seem stacked against you.  Along the way, it offers a delightful peek behind the curtain of a profession most of us have heard thousands of times but rarely think about.

This film is being presented as part of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's Wednesday Movie Club, a weekly showcase of movies that matter for people who love movies.  Bring a friend of just come by yourself (most people do).  Attendees will be invited to discuss the film immediately following the screening. Registration is not required.
