Wednesday Movie Club: Sentimental Value (2025) In-Person
Winner of last year's Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, Sentimental Value is a funny, moving Norwegian drama about family, memory and the complicated ways we try to understand the people closest to us.
Stellan Skarsgård, in what many critics called a career-best performance, plays a once-celebrated filmmaker who suddenly reenters the lives of his two estranged daughters. Hoping to make a comeback, he offers one of them a role in his deeply personal new film. When she refuses, he casts an American movie star (Elle Fanning) instead — bringing an outsider into a family with decades of unfinished business.
One of 2025's most acclaimed films, Sentimental Value won the Grand Prix at Cannes and earned nine Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and acting nominations for all four of its principal stars.

The Wednesday Movie Club meets every Wednesday afternoon at 2 PM for great movies, lively discussion, and a chance to connect with other film lovers. Each screening begins with an introduction to the film — its history, significance, and what to watch for — with discussion afterward. But if you'd rather just sit back and enjoy the show, that's fine too. Come early for coffee and conversation. Newcomers are always welcome, and registration is never required.
