Wednesday Movie Club: NOMADLAND

Wednesday Movie Club: NOMADLAND In-Person

This film is being presented as part of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's Wednesday Movie Club, a weekly showcase of movies that matter for people who love movies.  Attendees will be invited to discuss the film immediately following the screening. Registration is not required.

Our exploration of "road movies" continues this week with 2020's NOMADLAND. The film stars Frances McDormand as an aging woman who, in the wake of losing her livelihood, begins a solo expedition through the western United States. Converting a van into her living space, she styles herself a contemporary nomad and forges unexpected connections along the way. Featuring a supporting cast of real-life nomads, NOMADLAND took home three Oscars at the 93rd Academy Awards: "Best Picture," "Best Director," and "Best Actress" for McDormand. This beautifully shot and truly original film -- based on the book of the same name -- delivers a thoughtful character study with a tenderness rarely seen on the big screen.
