Wednesday Movie Club: NEBRASKA In-Person
This film is being presented as part of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's Wednesday Movie Club, a weekly showcase of movies that matter for people who love movies. Attendees will be invited to discuss the film immediately following the screening. Registration is not required.
This week's Movie Club screening falls on Bruce Dern's 89th birthday, and we're marking the occasion by watching his Oscar-nominated performance in the 2013 "road film" NEBRASKA. Dern plays Woody Grant, a cantankerous old buzzard who can barely walk down the street of his home in Billings, Montana without stopping for a drink. When Woody receives a sweepstakes notice and insists on making a 750-mile trip to collect his prize in Nebraska, it falls on his baffled son David (Will Forte) to accompany him. The American Film Institute recognized NEBRASKA as one of the ten best films of 2013. The dramatic comedy also features an Oscar-nominated performance by Wednesday Movie Club favorite, June Squibb (THELMA).
