Wednesday Movie Club: THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL

Wednesday Movie Club: THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL In-Person

This film is being presented as part of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's Wednesday Movie Club, a weekly showcase of movies that matter for people who love movies.  Attendees will be invited to discuss the film immediately following the screening. Registration is not required.

At first glance, THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL might seem like an unusual pick for a film club dedicated to exploring "movies that matter" — but that’s exactly why it deserves a closer look.  Far from a novelty, this 1992 gem is not only one of the most faithful adaptations of Charles Dickens’ classic, it's one of the most joyfully inventive. The secret? Michael Caine’s performance as Ebenezer Scrooge. The Oscar, BAFTA, SAG, and Golden Globe-winning actor embraces the role with such sincerity you'd think he was playing opposite Olivier and Gielgud rather than Kermit and Miss Piggy. He gives the film surprising dramatic weight, even as it brims with humor, music, and heart. The result is a movie that delights children and adults in equal measure, reminding us why Dickens’ story endures...and why the Muppets are some of cinema’s most enduring storytellers.
