Wednesday Movie Club: PLATOON

Wednesday Movie Club: PLATOON In-Person

This film is being presented as part of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's Wednesday Movie Club, a weekly showcase of movies that matter for people who love movies.  Attendees will be invited to discuss the film immediately following the screening. Registration is not required.

In honor of Memorial Day, we'll be watching Oliver Stone's PLATOON.  Winner of the 1987 Academy Award for "Best Picture," this groundbreaking depiction of the Vietnam War follows a young U.S. Army volunteer (Charlie Sheen) as he's not only caught up in the Vietnam War but the conflict between his Platoon Sergeant (Tom Berenger) and Squad Leader (Willem Dafoe).  Inspired by Stone's personal experience in Vietnam, PLATOON is widely regarded as one of the greatest war movies of all time if not one of the best films ever made.
