Wednesday Movie Club: JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI

Wednesday Movie Club: JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI In-Person

This week's Wednesday Movie Club screening is being presented as part of 2025's Summit County Community Read.  Click here to learn more about this year's program.  Registration is not required.

We’re stepping away from the spooky this week to celebrate culinary legend, Jiro Ono, the world-renowned sushi chef who will celebrate his 100th birthday on October 27.  The film, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, is a meditative and visually stunning documentary that offers a window into the life and philosophy of this tireless perfectionist and his tiny, Michelin-starred restaurant tucked inside a Tokyo subway station.  Beyond the sushi, the film is a moving exploration of family legacy, craftsmanship and the pursuit of excellence -- perfectly complementing this year’s Summit County Community Read, which similarly delves into the bonds between family and food.  Whether you’re a documentary lover, a foodie or simply someone who appreciates quiet, meaningful stories, this is a film to savor.
