WEDNESDAY MOVIE CLUB: THE WILD ROBOT In-Person
This film is being presented as part of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's Wednesday Movie Club, a weekly showcase of movies that matter for people who love movies. Attendees will be invited to discuss the film immediately following the screening. Registration is not required.
Described as "heartwarming," "beautiful," "fun," and "meaningful," DreamWorks' 2024 animated feature, THE WILD ROBOT, is a favorite to walk away with an Oscar this year. The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot, ROZZUM unit 7134, or "Roz" for short, who is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the island's animals, particularly an orphaned gosling named Brightbill. However, in the end, viewers will find that THE WILD ROBOT is really about what parents sacrifice, emotionally and even physically, in the course of raising and launching children into an uncertain, and sometimes (but not always) unforgiving world. "If it's not a perfect movie," writes one critic, "It’s the best kind of mostly perfect movie."
