Wednesday Movie Club: Once Upon a Time in the West

Wednesday Movie Club: Once Upon a Time in the West In-Person

This film is being presented as part of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's Wednesday Movie Club, a weekly showcase of movies that matter for people who love movies.  Attendees will be invited to discuss the film immediately following the screening. Registration is not required.

This September, our Wednesday Movie Club is proud to celebrate the remarkable artistry of Maestro Ennio Morricone, one of the greatest film composers of all time. A classically trained composer and technical master—often compared with all-time greats like Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart—Morricone elevated the art of film scoring, creating themes that are instantly recognizable, profoundly moving, and forever tied to the magic of cinema.

Our celebration concludes with the cinematic masterpiece, ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST.  Sergio Leone's epic unfolds like an operatic ballet of revenge, hope, and destiny, accompanied by a Morricone score that inspired 12-year-old Hans Zimmer to dream of becoming a film composer.  Each main character is given their own haunting musical theme by Morricone, whose score turns the sweeping landscapes and tense showdowns into moments of mythic grandeur. Starring Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson, Jason Robards, and Claudia Cardinale, ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST is a masterclass in cinematic storytelling you won't want to miss.
