Wednesday Movie Club: IN THE HEIGHTS In-Person
This film is being presented as part of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's Wednesday Movie Club, a weekly showcase of movies that matter for people who love movies. Attendees will be invited to discuss the film immediately following the screening. Registration is not required.
This week, we're kicking off our month-long celebration of movie musicals with the 2021 production of the multi-award-winning Broadway show that put Lin-Manuel Miranda on the showbiz map before "Hamilton" made him a household name. IN THE HEIGHTS centers on a subway stop in Washington Heights, N.Y., where a kaleidoscope of dreams rallies a vibrant and tight-knit community. At the intersection of it all is the likable bodega owner Usnavi (Anthony Ramos), who saves every penny from his daily grind as he imagines (and sings about) a better life. You won't want to miss this cheerful, splashy and exuberantly life-affirming ode to summer, heritage and community. It's sure to leave you with a spring in your step.
